Short biographical summary
My name is Dmitry.
I was born and live in Dnipro.
I have been working at MWDN for more than 2.5 years as a QA engineer.
What exactly do you do? Why did you choose the job of a QA engineer?
I am engaged in manual and automated testing on an IT and cybersecurity project. I chose the job of a quality assurance engineer because I like to work on non-standard cases and look for “holes” in business logic. I think that this is quite a creative and interesting profession.
What do you like most about your job? And what is the least?
Most of all, I like to work with something new and difficult because this is how you can experience professional development. I don’t like it when my testing tools don’t break anything in a new feature😂
Everyone on my team is from Ukraine, and our manager is Israeli. There are a lot of people on the project. I have worked there for two years, and I have barely spoken to a quarter of them. They’re all of different residences, cultures, and nationalities, but most of them are Americans and Israelis.
Do you use AI in your work?
I tried to use it several times for work, but it did not go well. Regarding the future of AI, I think in 5-10 years, it will be possible to say something like, “I’m still Googling; I’m that old.”
What technologies do you expect to develop in the near future?
I believe the development of green technology should be our top priority. Humanity needs to recognize its importance.
While AI generates a lot of buzz and is often more about marketing and information noise, green technology is about addressing real issues. It’s essential for repairing the damage we’ve inflicted on nature over the decades.
If you could live anywhere at any time, where and when would you choose?
Easy. Necker Island. Any time.
Who would you be if you weren’t a QA?
I would be a developer😂😜
I was a developer for about half a year, then I learned how to test software.
Since childhood, I knew that I would work specifically in the field of IT and technology.
What career paths are you considering for yourself in the future?
My top priority is to make the world a better place, and one way I hope to do that is by creating a free IT school for children in the future.
This initiative would help expand their horizons, boost brain activity from an early age, and equip them with valuable skills that could lead to better education and a brighter future. Given the shortcomings of modern education systems in many countries, millions of people leave school or university without the tools they need for success. My goal is to change that.
Tell about your hobbies
I play guitar, I love heavy metal, and I write music.
I played a little on keys and drums.
I decided to choose guitar because in my opinion, it is the best instrument.
Do you have favorite composers or performers?
Metallica is my one love❤️
They were/are my first love in music. It was their compositions that inspired me to learn to play the guitar.
Although I now listen and write in completely different genres, this group is always number 1 for me.
If I were to compose a list of my favorite artists, that would take me half a day. Here are just some honorable mentions: Breakdown of Saity, Emmure, Make Them Suffer, and All That Remains. Of them, All That Remains is something most of the people might probably like, whether rest of the bands are quite heavy.
Apart from music, I have some other hobbies – I like cars, tuning, and bikes.
Do you have pets?
Yes, I have a dog. Her name is Carry.
Have you traveled a lot?
Not really. The best place is the Carpathians, particularly if I can stop in the mountains and live in a tent.
What question would you ask the next guest of our column?
Tell me about some funny moments at work; what was your most epic fail?
Because I have quite a lot of them😂 (truth be told, not in MWDN).
